This 2-Minute Monday Personal Injury Mindset for Healthcare Providers, is about patient fraud and how to approach it.
Don’t Participate: Stand Up and Act Where Younger Patients Are Committing Fraud
A disturbing study at the University of Georgia by the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud found that 2 out of 5 adults under 34 years of age were more likely to commit insurance fraud.
I find this greatly concerning.
Many of our youth are anti-big business and especially anti-insurer. They find it clever to defraud insurers.
That fraud comes in the form of fake injuries, exaggerated injuries, false application, and medical billing fraud, including with personal injury patients.
However it occurs, it’s wrong. So what do you do?
When you find it, stop it. If you believe a patient is faking or exaggerating, don’t participate. Don’t continue to treat. Say no to those patients.
This isn’t just for the good of your own reputation but for the good of your patient. I’m a Baby Boomer, so perhaps it’s a different lens, but wrong is wrong.
And silence is not action. Because integrity matters, and character counts.
And I’ll see YOU and the next 2MMM!
