Episode 15: We Act on Emotions and then Justify with Logic

Sharing is Caring 📤

Whether marketing, parenting, or leadership of any kind, it is the ability to connect with others emotionally that drives decisions and actions.

People don’t come, act, or follow because you are good at what you do.

They do it because of how you make them feel.

We all want to feel valued.

We all want to feel we matter.

We all want to feel heard.

To really connect you have to really care,

And if we can bridge that chasm, we connect emotionally.

You can’t fake it until you make it when it comes to caring for others; however,

Either you really care or you don’t.

As soon as you connecting emotionally,

people will then find a logical reason to justify their decision.

To listen to YOU, take direction from YOU, to be led by YOU.

They’ll find something, anything, that makes sense to them.

They’ll even make it up!

It’s bringing down barriers, like a crack in a dam, and as the water pressure builds, the dam comes down.

Just like the toughest barrier.

And because you first connected with them emotionally, they will take your direction and justify it logically.

Here is my challenge to you this week:

Look at how you make decisions this week.

What role did emotions have in it without you realizing?

Then seek to connect emotionally with others.

Try first leading with logic.

Then try with the next person leading with emotions, making sure that person first is feeling valued, that they matter, and they are heard before you get talking about the path you want for them.

The results are night and day.

This is great power you control.

Use this power ethically.

Help others sending them in the right direction, not the wrong one.

Remember, it doesn’t matter what you think or what you have to say, it only matters how they feel.

We all act on emotions, and then we justify logically.

And I’ll see YOU at the next 2MMM!
