Not WIFM but WIFT (Can You Guess What That Means?)

This 2-Minute Monday Mindset is about improving your outcome and perception with others.

Not WIFM but WIFT

Today, let’s explore a simple but powerful shift in perspective:

Moving from WIFM —  “What’s In It For Me” – To WIFT, which stands for “What’s In It For Them.”

We all know how WIFM drivers our decisions. It’s human nature to consider our own interests, but when that focus is on “me”, it affects how we related to others.

So what about YOU.  Are YOU perceived as a WIFM King?  Is that what you want?  If not, how can you shift that?

Enter WIFT.  By changing just one letter, we change the entire focus … from “me” to “them”.

WIFT is about empathy and the basis for understanding. Because to truly understand someone, you need to know what THEY need, THEY want and THEY care about. It’s not about what you think is best but about stepping into THEIR shoes.

WIFT also fosters win-win situations as perceived by both. When both parties focus on each other’s needs, collaboration replaces competition leading to better outcomes for everyone involved.

So, this week, try shifting from WIFM to WIFT in every interaction. Watch how your listening, your words, and your connection change. You might just be surprised by the difference in impact, the difference in how you are perceived, and the difference perspectives, insights and results that open up for you.

And I’ll see YOU and the next 2MMM!
