Why Being Nervous is a Superpower

Sharing is Caring 📤

This 2-Minute Monday Mindset is about nerves and how to harness them.

Why Being Nervous is a Superpower

Let’s get real. Any time you’re about to “perform”, whether it’s public speaking, a tough meeting, or presenting to someone—you feel it.

The nerves. Your palms sweat, your heart races, or your voice shakes.

And here’s the truth nobody says loud enough:  It’s okay to be nervous!  In fact, it’s not just okay, it’s an advantageAnd it can be a superpower.

Say out loud:

“I’m nervous, and you probably aren’t going to like what I’m about to say.”

“I’m uneasy, and I don’t want you to misunderstand.”

“I’m tense, and this may not land well.”

Why? Because when you name your fear, you disarm theirs.

It’s honest. People respect that.

It’s effective. You immediately take on the underdog role, and we all root for the underdog.

You lower defenses. You open minds.  You win hearts.

Even tough personalities suddenly think: “No, I won’t misunderstand. I’ll show you.  I’ll prove you wrong.”

Think about that. You just flipped that person in your favor in their mind already!

And when you can flip tough personalities, you flip the entire room.

In fact, this is a tactic that hostage negotiators use.

By being vulnerable, you gain control.

So the next time your palms sweat, your heart races, or your voice shakes—don’t hide it. Harness it!

Because your message matters. Because YOU matter.

Realize it’s not just okay to be nervous.

Nervousness is one of your greatest advantages when revealed and is a superpower.

Own it. Use it. And never be afraid to speak with a shaky voice.

And I’ll see YOU at the next 2MMM!
